Boeing Whistleblower Dies After Brief Illness

A Second Whistleblower Has Died Weeks After the Death of Another Boeing Employee

Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Spirit Aerosystems, has died following a brief illness.

Dean's death comes just weeks after the suicide of another Boeing whistleblower, Joshua Wilson. Wilson, a former engineer, had raised concerns about the safety of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft. The 737 MAX was involved in two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019, killing 346 people.

Dean's family said that he had been suffering from depression and anxiety in recent months. They believe that his death was related to the stress of his job and the guilt he felt over the 737 MAX crashes.

Dean had worked at Spirit Aerosystems for 10 years. He was responsible for inspecting and approving parts for Boeing aircraft. In 2017, he raised concerns about the quality of some of the parts that were being produced at Spirit. He alleged that some of the parts were not being properly inspected and that they could pose a safety risk.

Dean's concerns were dismissed by Spirit Aerosystems and Boeing. He was eventually fired from his job in 2018. After his firing, Dean filed a lawsuit against Spirit Aerosystems and Boeing, alleging that he had been wrongfully terminated.

The lawsuit is still pending. Dean's death has raised new questions about the safety of Boeing aircraft and the treatment of whistleblowers.
