Six-Car Crash and Explosion Mar Nürburgring Endurance Series Start
The Nürburgring Endurance Series got off to a chaotic start on Friday with a six-car crash and a paddock explosion that injured 22 people.
Compressed Air Bottle Explosion
The explosion occurred in the paddock area of the Nürburgring race track in western Germany. A compressed air bottle exploded, injuring 22 people, including race drivers and team members.
The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Six-Car Crash
In addition to the explosion, there was also a six-car crash during the race. The crash occurred on the first lap of the race, and involved several GT3 cars.
No one was seriously injured in the crash, but several cars were damaged.
Investigation Underway
The cause of both the explosion and the crash is under investigation.
