Tigers’ Montero throws Maddux vs. Rockies, extends scoreless streak to 25.1
DETROIT — Anibal Montero extended his scoreless innings streak to 25. 1 innings while striking out 10 Rockies in a dominating performance Tuesday night. The Tigers won 11-0 and have won four straight.
Montero’s performance was a masterpiece
Montero allowed just four hits and two walks in his outing, and he threw 72 of his 106 pitches for strikes. It was the first complete game shutout of his career and the first by a Tigers pitcher since Spencer Turnbull on May 18, 2021.
Tigers offense provided plenty of support
The Tigers offense provided Montero with plenty of support, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second. Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the first, and Jeimer Candelario added a three-run double in the second.
Tigers now 18-23, Rockies fall to 14-27
The win improved the Tigers’ record to 18-23, while the Rockies fell to 14-27. The Tigers will face the Rockies again on Wednesday night in the finale of the three-game series.
