A compressed air bottle exploded in the paddock area of the Nürburgring race track in western Germany on Friday, injuring 22 people.
The explosion occurred at around 11:30am local time, just hours before the start of the Nürburgring Endurance Series race.
Six cars were involved in a crash prior to the explosion, which caused a fire that spread to the paddock area.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, with three people reported to be in a serious condition.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known, but an investigation is underway.
